Good morning and welcome back to school!
It is finally spring, and it is hard to believe that spring break has already passed! I hope you and your loved ones enjoyed the time off and had a happy Passover and Easter. It won’t be long before Memorial Day is here and the summer months are upon us!
In the meantime, we have many activities coming up in the last few months of school. As we begin the final marking period of this school year, I am asking that you continue to encourage your children to work hard and complete homework assignments, as this impacts their academic standing. This is the perfect time to encourage them to hone their study habits and goals and finish the year strong. This is a very busy time of the year, and it will go by quickly.
New York State computer-based English Language Arts testing resumes this Wednesday and Thursday for all students in grades 3-8. The testing was put on hold at most schools statewide due to technical problems at the state level. We hope to complete all English Language Arts assessments as well as make-up testing.
We also will prepare for the upcoming state math tests on April 29-30 (see the full state assessment schedule below).
It is our hope that students do their best, without feeling pressure, fear or anxiety. These tests serve as a tool for us to measure student learning and inform our instructional practices ensuring that we are providing the best possible education for all our students. Please make every effort to have your child in school and on time, especially during testing days. If you have any questions, please contact my office at (518) 475-6475.
