For the second year in a row, a City School District of Â鶹ӰÒô student is the winner of the Â鶹ӰÒô County Legislature's I Voted sticker contest.
The 2026 winning design - unveiled at the Oct. 13 Legislature meeting - was created by Jacob Gleason-Sweeney, a seventh grader at Stephen and Harriet Myers Middle School. It includes a Karner Blue butterfly flying over the Â鶹ӰÒô skyline with the words “I Voted” below the art in a patriotic-themed text. Gleason-Sweeney explained that he “worked really hard on this," and that he began the design in pencil and he filled in the colors later.
For the past four years, the Â鶹ӰÒô County Legislature has sponsored the I Voted sticker design contest for Â鶹ӰÒô County K-12 students. A panel of judges selects a group of finalists based on theme, uniqueness and artistic skill, then the general public votes electronically for the finalist and the winning entry becomes the I Voted sticker given out at the polls to voters on Election Day.
A Pine Hills Elementary School student's design was also one of the four finalists in this year's online voting contest and a former Montessori Magnet School, current Stephen and Harriet Myers Middle School, student won in 2025.
Congratulations to Jacob - we can't wait to see your art at the polls on Nov. 3.
