A reminder to eighth-grade students and their families: Applications for the Â鶹ӰÒô High School academy lottery are due on Thursday.

The lottery is open to all incoming freshmen and new students, as well as to current Â鶹ӰÒô High students wishing to change academies for next school year. Students need to submit a lottery application to increase their chances of entering the academy of their choice.

Â鶹ӰÒô High has four academies, each with its own theme: Citizenship, Discovery, Innovation and Leadership. These physically smaller learning environments are designed to help students feel connected, involved and engaged. Students are assigned to each academy through a lottery they are encouraged to enter.

Â鶹ӰÒô High held a virtual information night about the lottery last week.

The lottery will be held on Dec. 10.
